Aroma therapy is often called an “alternative therapy”. Aromatherapy is part of the subtle healing realm which also includes flower essences and crystals. Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential and absolute oils. Essential oils are complex, highly fragrant and volatile substances, with varying degrees of complexity, fragrance, and volatility. They are the most potent and concentrated extracts of various parts of flowers, fruits, leaves, spices, roots, and woods. The plant’s essence molecules are approximately 75-100 times more concentrated as an essential oil than in the dried plant. For centuries essential oils have been considered the most therapeutic and rejuvenating of all botanical extracts. They are highly concentrated, regenerating, oxygenating and contain hormones, vitamins, and antiseptics that work on many levels.

Isn’t it paradoxical that inspite of the fact that most of us enter the world as bald as a coot, and sometimes even exit that way, we spend our lifetime trying to maintain our hair through thick and thin. All of us lose between 40 and 120 strands of hair a day, depending on the amount of hair one has and its growth cycle.

Electro convulsive therapy is a treatment for severe depression. It is used when the situation is so bad that there is a concern for suicide or serious behavior problems. During this treatment the brain is zapped with a strong electrical current. This causes a seizure like someone with epilepsy would have. Supposedly this seizure releases different chemicals in the brain and make the brain cells work better. The person’s mood will improve when the chemicals take the right messages to part of the body. Typically the person is given around 12 treatments.

I’ve posted this in the pregnancy section as well, but I know that answers come slow this time of night so I figured I’d post here as well.
I am currently 38 weeks pregnant, my next appointment with my OB is not until next thursday in the afternoon and I would feel silly calling labor and delivery at 3:30 in the morning.
I know that swelling is normal, I’ve been swelling off and on for weeks on end. But now I am unable for the last few hours to even wiggle my toes. Normall I’ll put my sneakers on as it reduces the swelling but I can’t even get my shoes on over my toes!
