While it may be the immediate problem of acid and reflux sore throat or painful joints that’s got your attention there is another way of looking at health problems. One that takes an different view of illness and the way a healthy body works. Medical practitioners are focusing on the idea that high levels of acid in the body keep the immune system from doing an effective job.

I don’t want to go to peoples houses, and I especially don’t want to stay the night at other peoples homes away from my family (parents) which is weird because I have NEVER been this way. I just want to know if anyone else has been through this or experienced these symptoms. I tried to look it up, but all I could find was for after the baby is born. It is almost to the point where it is interfering with my life because I feel I can not go to any one else’s home. Thanks everyone

This is my second pregnancy and I am terrified of needles. I mean seriously terrified… not just a bit nervous. During my previous pregnancy, I had panic attacks over all three sets of blood tests. I was upset as I was forced to have identical blood tests twice (one at the early pregnancy unit, then at the midwife booking in visit as they “don’t share information”).

I’m 15 weeks and have my booking in appointment this afternoon. I was wondering what blood tests do I genuinely need to have for the health of my baby?

As far as I know, I’ll be tested for:

- Blood group (I already know this and they should too after the three sets of bloods last pregnancy)
- Hepatitis/HIV (Again, I tested clear for these last time and haven’t slept with anyone else/shared any needles etc)
- Screening tests (I refused these last time as I wouldn’t want to have further tests or abort based on the results and I don’t want a false positive hovering over me for the next 6 months)

If anyone has any reason why I SHOULD have tests for the above, please mention now!

The ones I’m not sure about:
- Anemia (I think I may need this to be on the safe side?)
- Rhesus factor (No idea about this one… do I need this test during a second pregnancy?)

Any help/guidance appreciated!

Also, are there any other tests I should expect at the booking-in visit? I’m in the UK. If so, which ones would I actually need and which are just routine (like blood group)?

You are about to discover more information about ovarian cysts during pregnancy and how to treat the cysts that are safe for you and your baby.

It is actually common for women to suffer from ovarian cysts during pregnancy and usually these cysts are not dangerous and do dissolve. However, it does not change the fact that these cysts can cause much discomfort and pain to the mother.

Also during pregnancy, treatment options are limited because your doctor cannot prescribe, birth control pills or any form of hormonal pills. The fact these treatment options are so limited during pregnancy your doctor usually will not have any option but to perform surgery if these cysts becomes any larger.

If your doctor proposes surgery, your doctor will perform surgery between the 13th and 20th weeks of pregnancy. If it is non-emergency surgery that is required the surgery will be postponed after the first trimester.

Unfortunately, surgery cannot prevent cysts from appearing again. Therefore, even after the removal of the cysts during pregnancy the chances are these cysts will develop again.

However, an approach you can use that will not interfere with a woman’s pregnancy is to take an approach of getting rid of ovarian cysts naturally.

By taking a natural approach, you will target the actual cause of why these cysts are forming and work towards preventing it from developing again in the future. In addition, this approach is not as aggressive like normal treatment.

This approach will also help woman get rid of, stress during pregnancy. By using a natural approach to relief pain and treat ovarian cysts, you will not mask the symptoms but rather go after the underlying causes of the cysts.

The facts are that as a pregnant mother, the fear and uncertainty of dealing with ovarian cysts during pregnancy can be a very emotional and taxing time. Even if you remove these cysts now the possibility of the cysts returning is real.

Now to help you get rid of your fear and anxiety I found a way where you can relief the pain and prevent the cysts from returning that is safe for you and your baby. Go to http://www.healthy-women.info and find out how.

I appreciate any advice you have. I have been on Paxil for 4.5 years now. I began getting horrible panic attacks after the birth of my daughter, plus I was stressed as my now ex-husband lost his job and I learned he was doing drugs. I was on Paxil before my daughter was born(not during pregnancy) because I was having severe panic attacks. I had switched from Buspar, which made me feel like a complete zombie.
So when my daughter reached 3 months(she is now 4.5 years old), I began having those panic attacks again. My dr. put me on Paxil again, and I have been on it for over 4 years now. Good news, no panic attacks, but I feel like its not helping my depression. I am also on Welbutrin, 300 mg a day for depression and I was trying to quit smoking on it, which sadly, I did for awhile, then I am back on them. I still suffer from depression, and probably always will. Can a medication stop being effective after so long? Is there another depression med that I should try?

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a type of anxiety disorder in which a person has unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead him to engage in repetitive behaviors (compulsions). A person affected with OCD may realize that his obsessions are not reasonable and may try to ignore or stop them, but he is driven to perform compulsive acts in an effort to ease his distress. OCD usually centers on themes which lead to ritualistic behaviour that ultimately affects the person’s life. Genetics, environmental factors and reduced levels of brain neuro-transmitters are believed to cause OCD. A family history, stressful life events and pregnancy are believed to be risk factors for OCD.

Here are a few examples of OCD rituals:

Repeatedly checking that a door has been locked

Repeating certain words to reduce anxiety

Checking email every few minutes

Excessive hand washing

Ensuring that items on a desk top are in a precise configuration

According to the National Institutes of Mental Health, 3.3 million people in the United States are living with O.C.D. People who develop obsessive compulsive disorder will usually start showing symptoms before they turn 40. In boys, symptoms typically appear between the ages of 6 and 15. This condition most often affects girls in adulthood during their twenties.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that there is always a number of helpful treatments for OCD there. I’m going to share some important tips that can help you get a head start on treating panic attacks.

Prescription drug therapy combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most common form of treatment for OCD. Early diagnosis is crucial to a successful treatment outcome. Treatment is most successful when OCD isn’t combined with different psychiatric or emotional disorders.

Naturalize your Obsessive Thoughts: Don’t let your thoughts and fear control you. If you start letting them control your life you will suffer from it for the rest of your life. Believe in yourself and build up a confidence that you can fight this syndrome.

Natural treatment for OCD has less side effects than chemical based drugs, and many of the native remedies and herbals has been used to cure anxiety panic attacks and OCD related problems for hundreds of years by the native people around the world.

Inositol: A naturally occurring sugar is capable of altering serotonin levels.

St. John’s Wort: Calm the body and mind, and depression effectively.

Passionflower: Herb that has sedative effects and helps in relaxation

<!– @page { size: 8.5in 11in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>

Let me tell you an undeniable truth. Just a Simple Treatment For OCD That Works Every Single Time.
The normal baby blues can happen in the days right after childbirth and normally disappear within a few days to a week. As a new mother, you can routinely have mood swings, sadness, crying spells, loss of appetite, sleeping problems or feel irritable, restless, anxious and lonely.

Usually, these symptoms are not severe and treatment is not needed. However, there are things you can do to feel better. Nap when the baby does. Ask for help from your spouse, family members and friends. Join a support group of new moms or talk with other moms.

Postpartum depression is not normal, however and can happen anytime within the first year after childbirth. You may have a number of symptoms such as extreme sadness, lack of energy, trouble concentrating, a lot of anxiety and feelings of guilt and worthlessness.

The difference between postpartum depression and the normal baby blues is that postpartum depression will often significantly impair your well-being and keep you from functioning well for longer periods of time. Postpartum depression needs to be treated by a psychologist or physician. Also, counseling, support groups, and medicines can help.

Postpartum psychosis is the most serious emotional condition that can afflict a new mother; However, it is rare. Fortunately, it occurs in only 1 or 2 out of every 1000 births and it usually begins in the first 6 weeks after birth.

If you have been diagnosed with bipolar or schizoaffective disorder, you are likely to have a higher risk for developing postpartum psychosis. Symptoms may include delusions, hallucinations, sleep disturbances and obsessive worries about your baby. You may also experience rapid mood swings; from depression to irritability to euphoria.

What should I do if I have symptoms of depression during pregnancy or after childbirth?

You may be reluctant to tell anyone about your symptoms because you may feel embarrassed, ashamed or even guilty about feeling depressed when you are supposed to be happy. You may worry that you will be viewed as an unfit parent.

However, perinatal depression can happen to any woman. It does not mean you are a bad or not together mom; you and your baby do not have to suffer. There is help.

There are different types of individual and talk therapies that can help you if you have perinatal depression; they can help you feel better and do better as a mom. Also, many women with perinatal depression improve when treated with anti-depressant medicine.

Your physician, counselor or psychologist can help you learn more about these options and help you decide which approach is best for you and your baby. Speak to your doctor, psychologist or midwife if you are having symptoms of depression while you are pregnant or after you deliver your baby.

They can give you a questionnaire to test for depression and can also refer you to a mental health professional who is an expert.

Here are some other helpful tips:

1.	Get as much rest as you can. Try to nap when the baby naps.

2.	Stop putting pressure on yourself to do everything. Do as much as you can and leave the rest!

3.	Ask for help with household chores and nighttime feedings. Ask your husband or partner to bring the baby to you so you can breastfeed. If you can, have a friend, family member, or professional support person help you in the home for part of the day.

4.	Talk to your husband, partner, family, and friends about how you are feeling.

5.	Do not spend a lot of time alone. Get dressed and leave the house. Run an errand or take a short walk.

6.	Spend time alone with your husband or partner.

7.	Talk with other mothers, so you can learn from their experiences.

8.	Join a support group for women with depression. Call a local hotline or look in your telephone book for information and services.

9.	Do not make any major life changes during pregnancy. Major changes can cause unneeded stress. Sometimes big changes cannot be avoided. When that happens, try to arrange support and help in your new situation ahead of time.

There are two common types of treatment for depression:

1.	Talk therapy. This involves talking to a therapist, psychologist, or social worker to learn to change how depression makes you think, feel, and act.

2.	Medicine. Your doctor can give you an antidepressant medicine to help you. These medicines can help relieve the symptoms of depression.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor about the advantages and risks of taking these medicines. Some women are concerned that taking these medicines may harm the baby.

However, a mothers depression can affect her babys development, too so getting treatment is important for both mother and baby. The risks of taking medicine have to be weighed against the risks of depression.

It is a decision that you need to discuss carefully with your doctor. If you decide to take antidepressant medicine, talk to your doctor about which ones are safer to take while pregnant or breastfeeding.

What effects can untreated depression have?

Depression not only hurts you, but also affects your family. Also, some researchers have found that depression during pregnancy can raise your risk of delivering an underweight or premature infant.

Also, if depressed, you may have difficulty caring for yourself during pregnancy. You may have trouble eating and may not gain enough weight; have trouble sleeping; may miss prenatal visits; may not follow medical instructions; have a poor diet; or may use harmful substances, like tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs.

Postpartum depression can affect your ability to parent, as well. You may lack energy, have trouble concentrating, be irritable and may even not be able to meet your babys needs for love and affection.

As a result, you may end up feeling guilty and lose confidence in yourself as a mother, which can worsen your depression. Some researchers believe that postpartum depression can affect the infant by causing delays in language development, impaired emotional bonding, behavioral problems, lower activity levels, sleep problems and abnormal levels of distress.

It can help if the father or another caregiver can assist in meeting the needs of your baby and any other children in the family while you are depressed.

All children deserve the chance to have a healthy mom and you deserve the chance to enjoy your life and your children.

Do not suffer alone. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression during pregnancy or after having your baby, please tell a loved one and call your doctor, midwife or a psychologist right away.

Hi Everyone,
I am currently 31 weeks pregnant. The past month has been really crazy for me. I have gestational diabetes, which I can deal with. Last week I had blood in my urine so I went through some tests, I have a large kidney stone in my right kidney. I had a cystocsopy done to look at my bladder, as well. The doctor said my bladder is so compressed from the weight of the baby and was very irritated. I have anxiety disorder and I am not doing so well with my anxiousness. I know that pregnancy causes a lot of extra emotion, but I cry a lot. I freak out over EVERY little thing. I was just at the ER last night b/c I am scared I got an infection from the cystocopy I had done on Thursday. I have to wait for a urine culture to come back which will take a few days. I am already on pins & needles waiting for those results. I am scared I have an infection and there are so few antibiotics that are safe in pregnancy. I am alone a lot as my husband works nights and my family lives about 45 minutes away. All I do is sit & think about everything. I don’t sleep well at night b/c of my anxiety. If anyone out there can share some inspiring stories it would mean a lot. Sorry if this was all over the place….

Every mom-to-be is anxious about her pregnancy due date. To reduce your anxiety, here are some signs that indicate your baby is in a hurry to come out and see the world!

Signs of Pregnancy Due Date

Your body gives you signs when your pregnancy due date is near. Here they are:

1. Braxton Hicks contractions or false labor – when you get contractions, breathe deeply or do some movement. If they disappear, they are Braxton Hicks contractions and not true labor. These contractions are common and nothing to worry about. They get more frequent about 15 days before delivery.

2. Expulsion of mucous plug – This happens about 3 days before delivery. However, you need not rush to the hospital when the plug, which blocks the opening of your cervix throughout the pregnancy, expels.

3. Nesting – This is a strange, but common phenomenon taking place hours before delivery. You feel quite active and start arranging furniture, cleaning your wardrobe, or doing other such preparatory activities to welcome the baby. Call this natural instinct!

4. Water break – This is the most dependable sign of pregnancy due date. Water break indicates that delivery will take place within 24 hours.

5. Other signs of pregnancy due date – back pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea are some other signs of approaching delivery.

Now that you are aware of the signs of your pregnancy due date, it time to take care of certain things in the last few months before you go into labor. These things will help you in smooth delivery.

Things To Do In The Last Couple Of Months Before Pregnancy Due Date

1. Enroll for childbirth and breastfeeding classes. They train you on how to handle your delivery process. This gives you confidence and prepares you mentally for the big day. You interact with other moms-to-be and get those positive vibes that are vital to endure the pain that goes with giving birth.

2. Chart out a childbirth plan. It includes the choice of birth center, type of birth, pain relievers, and kind of treatment you want, choice of people whom you wish to be present during childbirth, pregnancy bag items, and others.

3. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy week by week!

Most of the deliveries take place either a week earlier or later to the pregnancy due date. Only a few women deliver exactly on the due date. Therefore, it futile to worry so much about due date. There are other important things that need your attention. A couple of them are your health and regular checkups. Also, do not forget to remain happy and positive. Your attitude plays an important role in relaxing your mind, which, in turn, affects your endurance to bear pain during labor.

So, let pregnancy due date take a backseat for now. Focus on the pregnancy instead. You will enjoy more!
