Article by Tehmina Mazher

Will my baby be OK because I drank before I knew I was pregnant? Am I going to put on lots of weight? How do you pick up a baby? Lots of thoughts and feelings may cause both parents-to-be to feel quite anxious early on in the pregnancy or perhaps throughout. There are obviously some activities that should be avoided or foods that should not be eaten but mostly fears are simply that; fears, part of assimilating this new life event.

Nowadays we are somewhat bombarded with information in pregnancy about what not to eat or how to lead our lives and sometimes this information can seem contradictory. This disparity can in itself generate anxiety, ‘If the professionals don’t know the answer, then how can I know what is best?’

When faced with having an anxiety attack, what to do next is uppermost in your mind. Anxiety attacks can be one of the most terrifying, distressing, and painful experiences a person can have. In trying to find a cure, the number one step is identifying the cause.

While there are no clear-cut causes, there does seem to be a relationship with life changes that hold special significance – getting married, graduating from college, having a baby, securing a first job. An attack can also be triggered by extreme stress such as a divorce, job loss, or death of a loved one.

I am now 23 weeks pregnant and only discovered my pregnancy at the end of the first trimester. I am afraid I wasn’t very kind to my body during my first trimester. I was under an abnormal amount of stress, with frequent panic attacks, horrible eating habits, I smoked alot of pot, dyed my hair, and really just overworked myself. This all kept me from paying any attention to the fact that my body was growing a baby. I even chalked the nausea up to the fact that I was just mentally exhausted. Once I realized I was pregnant, I let go of the stress and tried to take care. I just had my first ultrasound and the baby “looks” healthy, but I am so scared I have hurt this little one in ways I can’t see. I will see the doctor again soon, but I wondered if anyone out there can relate to my situation.

I am pregnant after a long time.i am a patient of anxiety disorder.my first baby was a patient of cerebral palsy.she was 10 n half.she was unable to talk or walk.she died in this year.I never ever thought to have another baby again.i take clonazepam for my sleeping disorder and also for anxiety.now i am in my 6 weeks of pregnancy..having severe anxiety as i stopped taking the meds.sometimes i feel like i am gonna die.ever sciene i stopped taking clonazepam,i started having breathing problem.can’t sleep at all.i’m so scared to have clonazemap,i don’t want to have another sick baby.but my doctor said i need to take.i want to know is it harmful for the unborn.i don’t want to have a sick child again.but if i don’t take the meds,i really am not doing fine.i don’t know what i should do.i am so helpless.i am 32.i am not feeling good.

The first week sign of pregnancy ticks the alarm that you have started blooming a new life inside you. The pregnancy symptoms are not so visible in the first week of pregnancy. Both your physical and mental health undergoes certain changes after you become pregnant. Make a note of all these changes that start surfacing as early pregnancy symptoms within a couple days from conceiving. Onset of these symptoms at the first week of pregnancy marks implantation of fetus in the uterus and gradual development of it in your body. Drastic hormonal changes take place during this phase to support growth of the baby and the symptoms are just your body’s reaction to these changes. Hence, take care of your body and monitor each first week sign of pregnancy and add to your pregnancy journal to create a week by week pregnancy calendar till the end of nine months course of pregnancy. Pregnancy journals or calendars help women to observe if they are making healthy progress towards childbirth.

I’m going on 11 weeks in my first pregnancy and I just started having major anxiety/panic attacks in the last 4 to 5 days. I start to feel as if I can’t breathe, start shaking, horrible chest pains, dizziness…basically I just feel so terrified that I feel as if I am going to die. I know this sounds horrible, but it just seems like all of my excitement about my pregnancy has just completely disappeared. I’m left feeling empty and just wish this pregnancy would be over. After going through horrible morning sickness ALL day long, every single day I’ve lost every bit of my appetite and now with the panic attacks. I’m starting to hate leaving the house because every time I have in the last week I start having a panic attack I just don’t know what to do anymore. I am having major anxiety about even having to go to the doctor. I don’t even know if I can stand sitting in the waiting room. I have no idea how to even talk about this to my doctor without sounds like a complete insane person as I feel I am now. My husband is acting like it’s all in my head and in reality I know it’s not. It’s just been horrible from people judging me because I couldn’t hold any food or my vitamins down and saying how my baby is not going to be healthy to these terrible panic attacks. I’m just so upset. Any words of encouragement to get me through this?
