I’m just curious if taking depression medication during pregnancy is wise. I’m not pregnant, but when I am, I am scared to go off depression medication because I have severe depression when I’m not on it. I don’t think I could handle 9 months of that.

And how does pregnancy affect those with depression? Anyone?

A Look at Anxiety Depression

A lot of people who are exerting too much of their brain power usually exhaust not only their physical strength when engaging in various multi-tasking activities, they also tend to over extend their brains up to the point when it plainly needs some good old time for relaxation. A lot of busy people who seem to cannot fathom the idea of relaxing and taking time of from work, as well as their worries, tend to actually start having nervous breakdowns, anxiety depression and all sorts of mental illnesses that can cause a person’s sanity to go haywire, fortunately, if you’re one of those poor unfortunate ones who are unable to distress and is constantly worried and fussing over things, there are actually available cures and various treatments for treating anxiety depression.

Anxiety depression is actually characterized by all sorts of irregularities and erratic behavior from the person who is suffering from it, this is usuallu due to certain stress triggers that may tend to easily cause a person undue jitters and stress. Also, a lot of people who tend to get easily nervous over stressful activities are actually prone to having anxiety depression, its just a matter of being strong-willed when it comes to facing difficult and stress-prone activities. I am doing a report for my parent ed class about an adolescent issue and I picked teen pregnancy and teen depression, but I really don’t know a good site to find information about them. Anyone have any ideas?

I have been on Wellburtin for mild depression for many years. I am now 9 weeks pregnant and am continuing to take Wellbutrin. It is a catagory C which means there are no known risks for birth defects but it has not been cleared either. It is the first medication that What To Expect lists as a good med to take for depression during pregnancy. I do have a friend who took it her whole pregnancy and had a happy healthy baby girl. I am wondering if there are others out there who have had healthy babies while taking Wellbutrin. Than ks in advance.

How common is depression in pregnancy?

Depression that warrants medication, I should say. And, are women who have depression during pregnancy pretty much guaranteed to have Post Partum Depression?
I’m on wellbutrin, which had been doing very well, but here lately does not seem to have any effect. Anyone else have this happen?

Postpartum depression is a very real illness that affects millions of women every year. It is often referred to as the “baby blues” and not taken seriously. Some women may experience severe depression that includes thoughts of suicide, harming their newborn, or extreme depression. Postpartum depression is heightened by the lack of sleep and the stress of caring for a newborn.

It is estimated that 80 percent of all women experience some form of postpartum depression after giving birth. It does not usually kick in until at least three days after giving birth and can last for a few short weeks or up to six months. It is normal to experience some weepiness, tiredness, restlessness and a general feeling of grouchiness during the weeks following birth. Mild female depression does not interfere with the mother’s ability to care for the newborn child.

How do you deal with pregnancy depression?

Since I have been pregnant I have decided to give up my career in the Army since my husband is in and be a mom. Well that means a big life change. Now I’m on strict bed-rest due to pre-term labor and am staying home all day, bored out of my mind and the stress keeps pilling on. I’ve had a car wreck my back can’t heal due to the weight of my belly, my truck is messing up, my finances are going crazy, my husband is leaving for Iraq possibly before the baby is born, I got bit by a spider and my leg is all swollen and it hurts to walk, and on and on. Now I spend all the time I have with my husband fighting over stupid things and it is really starting to get to me. I feel so lost and worried and sad. I know I need to do something to keep from losing it, but I don’t know what. I want to be able to love my husband every second he is here, but I can’t help the rage and uselessness I feel inside. Someone please help me.

I know it’s normal to feel more emotional during pregnancy, and this has been an emotional week for everyone (with the VT shootings and all), but I have been crying on and off for days. I want to cry all the time. Is this normal, or should I start to worry about depression?

I got depressed in my last pregnancy too. I think it’s the constant fatigue and morning sickness in the 1st trimester. I remember in my first pregnancy it went away sometime in the first trimester, but right now it’s kicking my butt and I have 1 year old twins to take care of. They’re waking up from their nap, playing in their cribs together, and I’m dreading getting them up! How awful is that? They’re happy right now and I’m on my way in… sigh. But does anyone have any advice? I don’t want to take pills.

Thanks!
