Women and babies have been interrelated since the very beginning. It is a natural phenomenon and there is nothing unusual about it. All young women want to bear a child or in other words become a mother. These days even for a career woman the desire to give birth to a child and become a mother is bound to catch up and no other joy can ever replace the joy of becoming a mother in the hustle bustle of everyday life. There are several expectant mothers who suffer from severe stress and emotional turmoil and now the question arises that can pregnancy and the anxiety related to becoming a mother can bring her joy and contentment, equally?
The answer to this question varies from woman to woman. A part of the past life of the expecting mother is always to be brought to light especially when she is going to give birth to a new life.

Question by Mom to Johnny <3: How do I deal with anxiety during a pregnancy following a miscarriage?
I had a miscarriage 4 months ago and am now 6 weeks pregnant. I have a son and that pregnancy went perfectly so I know reasonably that I can and probably will have a healthy pregnancy. However, I can’t stop the anxious feeling that I will lose this baby too. I have been having really traumatic dreams that I am having a miscarriage. I feel like if I can’t get this anxiety out of my head that I may actually cause myself to have a miscarriage. Any help would be appreciated.

Pregnancy is a period in a woman’s life when needless to say, several internal and external changes are occurring on a daily basis. There is a life, a whole new person growing inside of you and when this person is born, he or she will be totally helpless and dependent on you. To some women, this is a source of joy and excitement as they anticipate the responsibility of motherhood-especially the first time, to others; it is a source of a particular type of depression: Pregnancy Depression.
Although pregnancy depression can be triggered by the pregnancy and associated factors itself, it may be as a result of a previous state of other forms of depression. This is why being depressed while being pregnant should be addressed and approached differently.

i cry everyday, i get so upset over every little thing and i feel that dying would be a nice thing on most days.

The mental health of people depends on the events of their life experiences. PTSD is a mental disorder that develops as a result of a terribly frightening experience, serious, or it extremely dangerous.
They suffer from post traumatic stress disorder continue to experience the trauma in one way or another. To avoid re-experiencing the trauma, they tend to avoid people, places and everything that reminds them of the event. In fact, are very sensitive to incidents of regular life. This condition has been in existence since we began to suffer trauma.

Is depression in the early stages of pregnancy normal? What about anxiety or not looking forward to it at all?
Any suggestions for coping?
I’m looking for advice from mature adults. Thanks.

Late last year I had frequent periods due to stress caused by family , planning a wedding & work. When I called the clinic the nurse told me to see a Doctor ASAP.I went to the Dr. Dr. prescribed me Provera for 10 days. I went into deep depression due to bad side effects. I couldn’t eat all day, I got really scared of everything (even public places), I thought I was possed by the devil, I had irrational thoughts,I threw up alot & I was suisidal. I told mom about it. She made me feel like a bad aweful person. She said I won’t be a good wife & a mom. I went to the Dr. again to get rid of my side effects of provera. Dr. gave me Zoloft because I asked for it & Zanex. I took small doze but developed more side effects like irrational thoughts. I am off the meds as soon as I got married 4 months ago. Now I am preg & still have bad thoughts. I was normal before I took any meds. My husband is so wonderful & I am sad to put him through this. Dr. says I should go on meds. But I don’t want to.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and have struggled with Generalized Anxiety Disorder since last May. This has been an incredibly difficult pregnancy because of it. Any ideas on how I can be the best mom to my baby even though I have an anxiety disorder? Thanks so much.

Since one is bringing new life into the world, pregnancy depression, like other forms of this emotional encumbrance, is one disturbance that must be attended to. Although use of conventional drugs is the oft-times prescribed method, when one considers the side-effects of drugs and the health of the baby, it may be time to revise one’s stand.
