Many expectant mothers experience panic attacks. Pregnancy actually tends to make the symptoms more pronounced. The symptoms can be very scary and they tend to cause a lot of unneeded stress. Most future mothers tend to be overly cautious and a little nervous. These two emotions leave them very vulnerable to panic and anxiety.

Women typically start developing panic and anxiety at various stages of pregnancy. The symptoms are most likely to develop either during the initial stages of pregnancy or after their children are born. Then there are the women that have already suffered from panic… the ones with a preexisting condition. These women have a tendency to be negatively affected by panic during pregnancy. Hormonal changes are typically the culprit for these emotions and fears.

There is a blurry line between typical panic symptoms and pregnancy symptoms. Most pregnant women experience symptoms such as headaches, irritability, fatigue, and nausea. Unfortunately these are also symptoms of panic disorders. Pregnancy is extremely stressful… and for many women it’s also a scary time. Women have many emotions and they want everything to turn out okay… it’s at times like these when anxious thoughts can get the best of you… it’s at times like these that you’re the most vulnerable to panic attacks.

If you do nothing about them, panic and anxiety will linger…they do not go away. As you reach the later stages of pregnancy you’ll notice your panic attacks becoming more pronounced and causing more anxiety. Irrational fears of harming your child are very common at this point. Remember, panic will never hurt you… or your baby. Be careful in the later stages of pregnancy… panic and anxiety can get out of control and cause frequent stomach cramps. This type of cramping is often mistaken for contractions.

So what should you do if you have panic attacks during pregnancy?

Mothers that are prone to panic attacks during pregnancy should remain around family and friends and maintain a good support system. They should also have regular checkups… preferably on a weekly basis, as these tend to be reassuring. Fortunately for you panic disorders are fairly easy to control… you do not need to let them affect your lifestyle or your relationships with your family and friends.

You want to stay away from medications for panic attacks. Pregnancy is a good reason to find natural, safe, and effective treatments for panic attacks. There are many options for you that are much healthier and more effective than prescription medications.

Are you concerned that anxiety or panic attacks may be ruining your life?

I used to struggle with anxious thoughts and even had panic attacks alcohol problems. Until I decided to download this Free Report.

I was hesitant about all of the bogus products and methods out there…

Finally I decided to visit panic away review and I am thrilled at how my life has changed for the better.

I have an anxiety disorder, which has been pretty mild in the past couple years, that I usually take medication for (only as needed), but opted not to take any meds (very few that are safe) during pregnancy. With my first pregnancy, I didn’t have any anxiety at all!! I was so mellow the whole 9 months. Once he was born though, the letdown of hormones was too much for me and I went back on meds right away. A lot of it is that I fear change. I feel like my husband and son and I have such a nice, normal, happy little family with our routines and now the new baby is going to take a lot of adjusting to. I’m happy to be having her, but I am worried about the anxiety that I know I will have once she’s here. I fear that I will lose the sense of “normalcy” that I have now, and that freaks me out! I have discussed it with my doctor and he has assured me that he will put me back on meds the very day that I deliver (I’m not breastfeeding, so it will be safe), but I’m still feeling a lot of anxiety now. I feel sad in a way, that it will no longer just be me and my son during the days, when my husband is at work. My son (3) and I do a lot together and are very close and I enjoy our time together, so I feel sad that my time alone with him is coming to an end. I’m sure I’m not the only one who had had anxiety about a new baby or feeling sad about time with my son, so I’m hoping that others who have “been there and done that” can give me some advice and encouragement. Like, how did you deal with it? What can I do to keep a sense of normalcy? I would really appreciate all helpful answers, thanks!

The reported incidence of phobic behavior is at least four times greater for women than it is for men. Some estimates suggest there are ten times as many phobic women as phobic men. Yet no one has ever been able to offer a satisfactory explanation for this.

Of course many people, both professional and nonprofessional, have tried to explain these puzzling statistics. Some suggest that “women are more emotional than men,” that “women think too much,” or that “women have nothing better to do all day than worry.” Others suggest that men are less willing to admit they have a problem and that these “closet phobics” are biasing the statistics.

Some of these explanations could have more than a grain of truth in them. Others are quite ludicrous. But none of them satisfactorily accounts for the significantly higher incidence of phobic behavior reported among the female population.

However, once you have established that phobias are the result of an underlying inner-ear disorder and you are aware of the many factors that can destabilize the inner-ear system, it suddenly becomes very obvious why there are more phobic women than phobic men. Women are more susceptible because their internal chemistry is less stable.

In other words, the physiochemical changes brought on by the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, menopause, and so on, are all capable of aggravating the inner-ear system and triggering phobic symptoms.

Therefore, though the incidence of inner-ear dysfunction may be the same in both sexes, this dysfunction is less likely to be aggravated if you are a man. Hence, fewer men are phobic.

WHAT ABOUT EMOTIONAL STRESS?

Many clinicians and nonprofessionals have tried to attribute the sudden onset of phobic behavior to one factor: emotional stress. They tell phobics: “You’re just under a lot of pressure. Take a vacation; take it easy. Rest and you’ll feel better.” But this kind of advice rarely helps.

There is no question that stress can precipitate phobic behavior. Stress causes anxiety, anxiety is a physiochemical reaction, and physiochemical reactions can destabilize an impaired inner-ear system.

But once you have established that the underlying source of phobic behavior is the inner-ear system, it immediately becomes obvious that emotional stress is only one factor capable of provoking phobic behavior. There are dozens of others that are equally capable.

Attributing the sudden appearance of all phobias to emotional stress is amazingly shortsighted. It can even be dangerous.

By ignoring the influence of other destabilizing factors, and by ignoring the role of the inner-ear system in predisposing individuals to phobic symptoms, patients are often prevented from obtaining valuable insight into their condition. Furthermore, they are deprived of proper treatment. This typically leads to the perpetuation or worsening of phobic symptoms.

Because ovarian cysts strike girls who are mostly premenopausal, an Ovarian Cyst Miracle when pregnant is a major concern. Cysts are a threat during pregnancy, they can also cause complications to the girl who is trying to conceive.

Because cysts can disrupt the menstrual cycle, or occasionally result in anovolation, conceiving can be really difficult. Women afflicted with ovarian cysts don’t experience the standard release of the hormone or LH, the chemical that excites the egg to be freed from the follicle monthly.

Aside from the initial complication that could be experienced during conception, there are serious medical threats which cysts while carrying a child cause to the mother and the baby alike.

The most desirable way to address this situation is to start treating ovarian cysts naturally before planning to conceive, however for many women this isn’t an option.

Cysts during pregnancy are of 2 types : benign and malicious. Malignant cysts are the form that may result in complications as well often be carcenogenic. Benign are typically unimportant, and would frequently be overlooked completely if frequent ultrasounds didn’t bring them to the eye of physicians.

Major risk factors of a cyst while pregnant include the rupture of cysts. This may cause infection to spread across the body and can put the baby and the mother at significant risk. In some cases, a ruptured ovarian cyst can lead to miscarriage and even death of the mother.

when considering risk factors of an ovarian cyst while pregnant it’s vital to consider stress as a factor and contributor. Stress during pregnancy has additionally shown to have a negative impact on prenatal development.

Many girls that are suffering from an ovarian cyst during pregnancy experience high stress levels. Stress can be one of the causes of cysts or alternately, it can be caused by worrying about the condition. Stress should be managed appropriately in this time with positive mental reflection and even prenatal yoga.

Because almost all of the classical forms of treatment for ovarian cysts aren’t possible during pregnancy, it is a good idea to explore natural cures with your consultant. Prescription medications and painkillers should be avoided, and surgical options are often abandoned because of the risk to the child.

The holistic system of treating ovarian cysts is advisable while carrying a child, as these approaches pose no complications to the mother or kid. A holistic perspective intends to restore the basic imbalance in the body that created the conditions obligatory for cysts to develop.

Treating Ovarian Cyst Miracle with natural ingredients is crucial while pregnant. As the holistic approach considers the woman’s body as a system, stress and anxiety control are also incorporated into the resolution of this disorder.

The swishing or ringing sound or noise that you can hear coming from the ears or head is called Tinnitus. Most people could experience this condition at some time; however, these noises or sounds are not considered as a severe ear condition but rather a nuisance that could be cured immediately.

For some people though, surgery and other thorough medical treatments are necessary especially if the condition is brought about by a primary illness. Hence, it is very important that you seek professional help to know if it is a single disease or if it is coupled with a more serious case.

Once you experience tinnitus or swishing or ringing in ears, treatment varies. This is so because remedies or treatment should be based on the cause of the noise or sound. The most common causes of tinnitus are as follows:

• Hearing loss, which is actually normal especially if a person ages.

• Ear infection or excess wax in the ear.

• Ear trauma

• Exposure to loud noises like high-intensity music (loud sounds could really damage the hearing system)

• Overuse of aspirin, quinine and aminoglycoside antibiotics, a potent anti-infection drug

• Other underlying or main health issues such as Meniere’s disease, anemia, overactive thyroid and acoustic neuroma

• Pregnancy could also be a cause of ear noises or sounds

For those diagnosed with hearing organ damage, treatment is not ruled out as necessary. Patients are just usually reassured that tinnitus is a single disease and not a by-product of any other serious issue. And while some causes, like pregnancy, could give just a temporary case of tinnitus—meaning, the condition will go eventually away– the others entail some appointment with your otolaryngologist or ear, nose and throat specialist.

For those people who are experiencing severe swishing and ringing in ears, the following could be recommended by doctors:

• Antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication

• Use of maskers and other ear devices that can mask the sounds coming from the outside

• If patients are bothered by the swishing and ringing in their ears at night, a fan, radio and other sound-producing machines could relieve the problem.

• If the ear condition worsens because of stress, relaxation methods are advised.

• Less caffeine intake, as the said substance could worsen the symptoms

• Avoiding aspirin and other drug that cause tinnitus

• Protecting the ears from harsh and loud noises that could bring about hearing loss—a condition that could just make tinnitus even worse.

• A method called Biofeedback could also help relieve or diminish the irritating sounds in the ears. This treatment method uses monitors that can furnish patients with psychological information that they are not normally aware of. By adjusting their thinking based on the mental processes that they see on the monitor, they get to control the body activities that are involuntary by nature.

So if you are one of those people who are experiencing those disturbing sounds, it’s time to pay your doctors a visit to get the medical attention that you need.

You are about to discover more information about ovarian cysts during pregnancy and how to treat the cysts that are safe for you and your baby.

It is actually common for women to suffer from ovarian cysts during pregnancy and usually these cysts are not dangerous and do dissolve. However, it does not change the fact that these cysts can cause much discomfort and pain to the mother.

Also during pregnancy, treatment options are limited because your doctor cannot prescribe, birth control pills or any form of hormonal pills. The fact these treatment options are so limited during pregnancy your doctor usually will not have any option but to perform surgery if these cysts becomes any larger.

If your doctor proposes surgery, your doctor will perform surgery between the 13th and 20th weeks of pregnancy. If it is non-emergency surgery that is required the surgery will be postponed after the first trimester.

Unfortunately, surgery cannot prevent cysts from appearing again. Therefore, even after the removal of the cysts during pregnancy the chances are these cysts will develop again.

However, an approach you can use that will not interfere with a woman’s pregnancy is to take an approach of getting rid of ovarian cysts naturally.

By taking a natural approach, you will target the actual cause of why these cysts are forming and work towards preventing it from developing again in the future. In addition, this approach is not as aggressive like normal treatment.

This approach will also help woman get rid of, stress during pregnancy. By using a natural approach to relief pain and treat ovarian cysts, you will not mask the symptoms but rather go after the underlying causes of the cysts.

The facts are that as a pregnant mother, the fear and uncertainty of dealing with ovarian cysts during pregnancy can be a very emotional and taxing time. Even if you remove these cysts now the possibility of the cysts returning is real.

Now to help you get rid of your fear and anxiety I found a way where you can relief the pain and prevent the cysts from returning that is safe for you and your baby. Go to http://www.healthy-women.info and find out how.

Well you can now stop worrying about all those extra pounds that you will put on during pregnancy. New generation moms can easily get back their pre-pregnancy figure within a year.. With the right daily regime, workouts and a good diet; now getting pregnant does not mean getting fat.

However the right diet does not mean that you start dieting right after you deliver. Whether or not you are breast feeding, the first few months you should concentrate on nourishing yourself through a proper diet. You can start exercising along with a good diet intake. After a couple of months, your body returns to its normal level and then you can start your loosing weight. You can take weight loss tips from new moms who have lost weight after pregnancy.

How Many Months Before I Return To My Normal Weight?

Weight gain during nine months is in the normal limits (20 – 30 pounds) then you should be able to lose weight in less than a year. This process takes time but ensures that your weight loss is at the right pace and safe. Post pregnancy period usually leaves the new moms low on self esteem. Some would be still coping with massive weight gain; some would constantly worry about milk stains on their clothes. Many women might not get enough time to take even a proper bath. Women do tend to get depressed for these reasons and do not know how cope with the change in their life. Many women constantly worry about sex after long nine months. They do not feel very comfortable indulging in intercourse as their body is out of shape.

These problems can be easily dealt with if you work towards your goal with a healthy weight loss regime. Pregnancy weight loss should be planned in consultation with your doctor. You should also keep in mind your physical condition before making a diet or exercise plan.

Exercising Helps

As a balanced diet plays a vital role in weight loss, exercise also plays a major part. Exercising however should not be started without the doctor’s consultation.

Exercise helps in post pregnancy weight loss. It also helps to increase your self confidence and lends you a hand if you are dealing with depression. Exercising affects breast milk is a myth and you should not bother about it.

Weight Loss Through Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding also helps moms’ lose weight. Breast feeding releases hormones which help your body to return to its normal level which in turn helps you regain your normal weight.
Breastfeeding is not a fool-proof method of weight loss after pregnancy. In most cases, women start losing weight only after they stop breast feeding.
Also relying on breast feeding may make you careless towards your diet and workout routine.
You can go on a low fat diet even if you are breast-feeding. Do ensure that you are taking at least 1800-2000 calories per day.

Remember that your body has gone through a lot of strain and changes. Post pregnancy care is very important for your body to heal and also to ensure weight loss after pregnancy.

Weight loss tips are very much in demand.

While there are many conditions that can bring about Ringing Ears Pregnancy symptoms or Tinnitus you should take note of anything that happens to you during this time. It’s important to know that not everyone hears the same things and sounds may range from ringing to running water.

Regardless of why Ringing Ears Pregnancy happens it can still be a major bother to you and can be made even more frustrating by your state of health. Being pregnant brings on its own set of emotional challenges and a minor annoyance before might be a major problem now. But the major questions of what it is and how to get rid of it still remain.

The common causes of Tinnitus are due to damage, irritation, or blockage of a person’s auditory system. It can be brought on naturally with old age or by listening to loud music repeatedly without giving your ears time to heal. While it strikes the older generations quicker than the younger ones it is indiscriminate and can cause ringing in anyone’s ears.

While Ringing Ears Pregnancy symptoms are common due to bodily changes you can also suffer from Tinnitus during this time. It’s important to consult with your doctor immediately if you start hearing strange sounds in order to make sure you’re doing okay. It may be something minor such as a cold or it may be a symptom of a larger problem that you need to address.

The most important thing that you can do with Ringing Ears Pregnancy symptoms is to take notice of when they strike you. If you are having it repeatedly at the same time of night then try to keep a journal and write this down to help your doctor diagnose the problem. There are many medical conditions that can bring these symptoms and problems about but there are also perfectly legitimate reasons as well. Being stressed out over your current situation is completely normal when pregnant and it can cause an increase in your blood pressure. This as well as not getting enough sleep can lead to ringing in your ears.

If you suffer these problems while pregnant know that you have choices for treatment. There are various natural choices as well as medical choices available to you. Do note that certain medical treatments might actually make the ringing worse or bring on full scale Tinnitus. It’s important to be aware of the side effects of any medication you’re given before taking.

Due to the increase of blood flow throughout a woman’s body Pulsatile Tinnitus and its symptoms can strike as well. This form of Tinnitus gives off a whooshing or running water sound in rhythm with your own heartbeat. Due note that this is a normal side effect of being pregnant but if you suffer with it excessively either before or after your pregnancy consult a doctor immediately. It may be indicant of a more severe problem.

While Ringing Ears Pregnancy symptoms and Tinnitus can be benign in many cases they can still be aggravating to deal with. It’s advisable that if you suffer from these symptoms at night when you’re trying to go to bed that you try putting on some music at low volume or use a noise machine. If these aren’t available or don’t work you can also try honing in on the sound of your computer running or an air purifier in the background. These will distract you from the ringing in your ears and allow you to fall asleep.

If however your Ringing Ears Pregnancy problems re caused by your pregnancy itself then it will dissipate after your pregnancy is over. If you are having trouble dealing with the noise until then talk to your doctor about various medical and natural treatments that can be taken without damaging your child.

Ive had issues Ive tried coping with and figuring out, such as mood swings, depression, and also anxiety. I was on effexor XR to treat both depression and anxiety, but wasn’t on it long enough to feel the full effects as it wasn’t safe for my pregnancy. Well, I lost the baby and am feeling very anxious lately about everything. I think about the fact the baby’s gone and will never be back again.. and I freak out inside. It used to be so bad where I would feel very anxious in the evenings when I saw the sun setting. Alot of night I couldn’t sleep so I would wait up and watch out the window anxiously waiting for the sun to come back up again.
So okay, here is my question: Anyone had an anxiety disorder? What were your experiences, did you get treated? What was the name of the perscription and did it help? Thanks alot.
Oh, also, I am currently on Prozac which my Dr switched me over to because it was safe for the pregnancy. Im still taking it

If you think that depression is exclusive to women, you cannot be more wrong. Depression is actually a condition that can affect men and women alike. Women may probably be just more vocal and open about how they feel. They are also more likely to seek help when they think that they are already getting depressed. On the contrary, a lot of men do not want to accept their condition or they are afraid to express how they feel, much less seek help even from friends and family. The reason behind this inhibition to articulate what they feel lies primarily on the expectation that men should be stronger, less emotional, more successful, and be in better control of the situation than women.

Well, there are a lot of things that may cause depression in men; but, the following are the most common:

Sex

Quite a number of men equate their masculinity with their virility and performance in bed. Thus, when they feel that their partners are not satisfied during copulation or they are unable to get themselves ready for action when they want to, a lot of men start to feel depressed and insecure. Ironically, some anti-depressant drugs can also reduce libido or sex-drive in some men.

Pregnancy And Children

Post-partum depression is something that many people acknowledge. Experts recognize that mothers may experience depression while pregnant or after having a baby because of hormonal imbalance and the changes that the body undergoes during pregnancy and after giving birth. However, not many are aware that there a number of fathers who also go through depression because of their wives’ pregnancy or having children. Studies show that about one in ten males feel the blues because of this particular drastic change in their lives.

Relationships

For married men, the number one cause of depression is an unhappy or rocky marriage. It seems that men find it difficult to cope with quarrels and disagreements with their spouses or wives. Since men are not very comfortable about having to argue with their partners, they tend to avoid confrontations, which can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety and eventually, depression.

Naturally, guys also feel uncomfortable with the process of separation and divorce, especially if the process was initiated by their wives and girlfriends. Figures also show that men who are depressed due to a painful divorce are the ones most likely to commit suicide.

Retirement Or Unemployment

Men usually put a lot of time, effort, and importance in their work rather than their personal life. In fact, many relationships and marriages have been broken because of men’s desire to be on top and successful in his chosen field. Thus, it is really not surprising that when retirement comes, men feel inadequate and a bit depressed. The same is also true for those who suddenly find themselves suddenly out of a job. Moreover, it is also this factor that usually causes long-term depression, which often leads to alcoholism, drug abuse and even suicide.

If you think you are depressed, drinking away your blues will not do you any good. First, you need to accept the fact that keeping your feelings to yourself can make you more upset and do things irrationally. Do not be afraid to share your feelings and problems with other people or even to your wife, girlfriend or close family relations.

Regular exercise and a balanced diet are also key parts in maintaining, if not eradicating, your gloomy mood. Exercise can help you sleep better, while eating healthy will ensure that you get the right amount of minerals and vitamins that your body and mind need to help you snap out of your depression.

Lastly, it may also be wise to try out anti-depression supplements, such as Serelax, for mild to moderate depression. Such products will help reduce stress and tension, and at the same time encourage restful sleep. However, if your depression is long-term and is getting worse by the day, it would be best to seek professional help.

I am sixteen years old and I have issues with bulimia, anxiety, and depression.
My ex boyfriend and I messed around in January while we were still together. There was a very slim chance that I am pregnant. I have gotten my period January, February, and March. I took a pregnancy test in early February that was negative. My logic tells me it is impossible to be pregnant and have a period.

But my anxiety will not leave me alone. It keeps making me imagine pregnancy symptoms. Every tiny ache and pain I get is a “symptom”. Pregnancy is the worst thing that could ever happen to me. The only thing worse is death.
I am so scared and I just want it to stop. Please help me. What can I do? I think I am going crazy.

If you’re thinking about a career in acupuncture you’ll want to learn how and where you can earn a certificate or degree in acupuncture. Perhaps you’re already familiar with the field of acupuncture but if not you’ll want to find out all you can both online and offline. It’s thought that acupuncture has been practiced in China for at least 2,000 years and some think it’s probably been practiced at least 3,000 years or so.

First of all you’ll want to choose an acupuncture school that offers consultation services for its graduates. The schools that do, allow graduates after graduation, to consult with instructors regarding care of their patients. You’ll also want to check to see if your state is on the national list of about 49 acupuncture schools with accredited programs and you’ll want to find an acupuncture school that offers smaller classes.

Acupuncture schools that offer courses in traditional Chinese medicine often include related training or courses in traditional medicine, such as anatomy and physiology, body therapy, massage therapy, and other sciences. For naturopathy schools that offer acupuncture programs there is a list called the: List of Accredited Natural Medicine Colleges in North America. Check with the school you’re considering making sure they have a wide selection of study resources available so you can have all the essential acupuncture materials for a broad learning experience.

You’ll also want to find out what the acupuncture training, school and program options are in your home area. Try to find a school whose program emphasizes courses in traditional Chinese medicine because acupuncture is just one element of traditional Chinese medicine. There are a few acupuncture schools that teach acupuncture practitioners the five-element Oriental medicine approach to acupuncture, which is often used in conjunction with the traditional Western medical practices.

Acupuncture is used for: arthritis, headaches, migraines, to quit smoking, to lose weight , fertility, fibromyalgia, depression, insomnia, face lifts as in facial acupuncture, back pain, high blood pressure, pregnancy, cosmetic purposes, anxiety, panic attacks, Crohn’s disease, asthma and on dogs and other pets or animals as in veterinary acupuncture.

If you haven’t experienced acupuncture make to visit an acupuncture clinic to learn more about acupuncture. You might want to talk to an acupuncture specialist or naturopath about a possible acupuncture career also. Talk to the financial aid counselors at the acupuncture school or college you’re considering to see if they have any ideas or suggestions for scholarships, grants or education loans if you need to finance your training.

Before you commit to any acupuncture school or to any acupuncture training you can check out the “Fundamentals of Chinese Acupuncture” by Ellis, Wiseman, and Bosson. This excellent textbook is used in many acupuncture schools and acupuncture training programs and will give you a better idea if you’d like to pursue acupuncture as a career.

If you haven’t checked already may sure to check and see if you need a license to practice acupuncture in your state. You may not need a license. Get the facts first on which states require licensing. Note that each state and each discipline has its own criteria about how alternative medicine practitioners are to be professionally licensed, if at all.

Acupuncture programs in acupuncture schools can be expensive and usually require three years or so of classes and sometimes up to five years. If you have a naturopathic school in your area, email or give them a call to find out the licensing requirements in your state. If you do get financing help or aid in the form of federal assistance be sure to have selected a school that’s accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

An acupuncture career has great career growth potential. Just be sure to find out the length of the coursework and the expense upfront and know how you plan to handle it. Many have done it before you. If possible, intern in an acupuncture clinic in your neighborhood to get first hand experience before you decide. But make sure to learn about the licensing requirements for acupuncturists for your state before you do anything else.

We have watched Tony Soprano go in and talk to his therapist as well as Robert DeNiro, the crime boss talking to his therapist played by Billy Crystal in the movie ‘Analyze This’. Watch any soap opera and they will get around to having a character see a shrink. Bob Newhart had a popular comedy show about a psychologist and his hilarious contacts with his patients from group therapy. So we all know about therapy. Some of us think that only real sickos go in to visit a shrink and some of us won’t even admit we might need a helping hand from a therapist.

There are different approaches to therapy and you need to know this because if you go to therapy you want to know which approach your therapist is using. You can choose because you have the up front knowledge you got here.

Psychotherapy:

This is the most famous kind of therapy we have heard of where a person goes in, lays down on a couch or sits in an easy chair, and talks about his mother. It’s probably the worst way to treat depression.

Sigmund Freud started this idea which said that behavior today is caused by our childhood conflicts. Before a person can get better, he or she must solve the riddle of why he did things as a child. Insight must be achieved. You have to know exactly why you got depressed before you get any better. The results of this type therapy have not been very effective. You can work and work and find out why you do the things you do but if you don’t change your behavior, no good results happen. You are talking about the past and trying to analyze things that happened maybe forty years ago. The therapist typically sits there and tells you nothing, wanting you to come to your own conclusions. This therapy can go on forever, or as long as you have the money to afford it. Few insurance companies are going to foot the bill for this drawn out therapy. Only someone like Woody Allen can afford to keep it going.

Behavioral Therapy:

In this type of therapy the only thing you will be talking about is your behavior, what you did. The basis of this therapy is that you are feeling depression because of what you did. This therapist won’t be going into your past and asking about your parents or your birth order. This therapist wants to hear what is happening and then will work with you to change your behavior and do it now. It works very well for many people.

Cognitive Therapy:

This therapy has as it’s belief that all emotion comes from thoughts. The basis for this therapy is for you to interrupt your thoughts, ask if they are really good and true, and discard them if they are not. This therapy says that you have to review the way you typically think. Then you ask yourself if this thinking is based on good sound information.

If you decide it is not, you need to change your way of thinking. It is a good therapy for someone who likes to spend a lot of time thinking about and analyzing their thoughts. For others it’s way too complicated.

Every mom-to-be is anxious about her pregnancy due date. To reduce your anxiety, here are some signs that indicate your baby is in a hurry to come out and see the world!

Signs of Pregnancy Due Date

Your body gives you signs when your pregnancy due date is near. Here they are:

1. Braxton Hicks contractions or false labor – when you get contractions, breathe deeply or do some movement. If they disappear, they are Braxton Hicks contractions and not true labor. These contractions are common and nothing to worry about. They get more frequent about 15 days before delivery.

2. Expulsion of mucous plug – This happens about 3 days before delivery. However, you need not rush to the hospital when the plug, which blocks the opening of your cervix throughout the pregnancy, expels.

3. Nesting – This is a strange, but common phenomenon taking place hours before delivery. You feel quite active and start arranging furniture, cleaning your wardrobe, or doing other such preparatory activities to welcome the baby. Call this natural instinct!

4. Water break – This is the most dependable sign of pregnancy due date. Water break indicates that delivery will take place within 24 hours.

5. Other signs of pregnancy due date – back pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea are some other signs of approaching delivery.

Now that you are aware of the signs of your pregnancy due date, it time to take care of certain things in the last few months before you go into labor. These things will help you in smooth delivery.

Things To Do In The Last Couple Of Months Before Pregnancy Due Date

1. Enroll for childbirth and breastfeeding classes. They train you on how to handle your delivery process. This gives you confidence and prepares you mentally for the big day. You interact with other moms-to-be and get those positive vibes that are vital to endure the pain that goes with giving birth.

2. Chart out a childbirth plan. It includes the choice of birth center, type of birth, pain relievers, and kind of treatment you want, choice of people whom you wish to be present during childbirth, pregnancy bag items, and others.

3. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy week by week!

Most of the deliveries take place either a week earlier or later to the pregnancy due date. Only a few women deliver exactly on the due date. Therefore, it futile to worry so much about due date. There are other important things that need your attention. A couple of them are your health and regular checkups. Also, do not forget to remain happy and positive. Your attitude plays an important role in relaxing your mind, which, in turn, affects your endurance to bear pain during labor.

So, let pregnancy due date take a backseat for now. Focus on the pregnancy instead. You will enjoy more!

Pregnancy is a natural condition which involves certain changes in women’s body, behaviour and even lifestyle. Moreover, pregnancies vary from woman to woman, some women may have an easy period of pregnancy and on the other hand some women may face complications and need to be supervised by a doctor during their pregnancy.

First of all, women who find out that are pregnant should be ready for the next period of 9 months, they need to find a specialist in order to have a medical support during the pregnancy, they should learn about their condition and how to take care of themselves and the unborn baby and moreover pregnant women need to make some changes in their lifestyle, such as giving up drinking alcohol or smoking.

Furthermore, a normal period of pregnancy is about 40 weeks. This time is divided into three periods of time called semesters and in each semester things happen to the woman’s body and the baby. So, pregnant women may face natural emotional changes such as anxiety, fear about pregnancy and childbirth.

In the first semester, the baby who is still a tiny cells starts to develop and its heart begin to beat. Moreover, the first pregnancy symptoms that women usually face or not are: period stops or becomes light; some women may feel nausea and cannot eat certain foods and on the other hand many women feel the desire to eat foods that they never liked before. Other specific prgnancy symptoms are the swollen and tender breasts, the nipples and the area around them get darker, frequent urination, pregnant women feel tired and have headches and in some cases women may experience emotional shifts and mood swings, such as sadness or happiness out of the blue, fear and others. Moreover, in the first semester of pregnancy some women may develop complications which can lead to the loss of the baby. So, if a woman is diagnosed with a complicated pregnancy, she should follow a certain treatment and be careful during the pregnancy.

In the second semester, the embryo tends to seem more like a baby, the child has eyebrows, eyelashes, fine hair, can even move his/her hands and can kick with the legs the mother’s tummy. In addition to this, in this semester, women may notice other symptoms, such as weight gain, the breast get bigger, the feet, ankles, and face may swell, some women my experience nosebleeds and also varicose veins.

The third semester tends to be risky too, the pregnant woman should take care in order to avoid a premature delivery. In this last stage of the pregnancy, the belly is quite visible, the navel pushes out, the baby can be seen moving from the outside and because of the big belly, women can suffer from backaches and may have difficulties in walking or moving fast.

All in all, pregnancy is a unique moment in every woman’s life and the three semesters bring new changes and new exeperinces in the mother’s life. By following a proper diet and taking into consideration the doctor’s advice, a future mother can have an easy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I don’t mean taking it as a treatment everyday for hypertension, heart conditions, etc. I mean, for performance anxiety, only ocasionally, 10 milligrams maximum 3-4 times in one week, and then again nothing for months? I know it is not tested very well, and in animal studies was shown to cause harm to unborn fetuses, if taken everyday as a part of treatment, but what i am interested in is the very ocasional minimal use.
Thank you.
I want to clarify-i don’t have an anxiety disorder, i am a professional musician and i take inderal for stage fright-before an audition. I didn’t take any auditions so far (i am 6 months along), but i have 4 coming up in the next 4 weeks. Do you have a some reason to believe that the total amount that i will end up taking by the end of the month (about 80 milligrams ) will be harmful?

Suffering A Stroke And Feeling Hopeless

Getting severely depressed after having a stroke is not unusual. When my mother had her first massive stroke and I went to the hospital, tears were flowing down her face and she kept telling me, ‘I don’t want to live’. My mother was always a very proud, independent woman. She did not want to depend on anyone. She was depressed and very angry. Nurses did not want to come into her room because she would not play the game and act grateful because she was unhappy. No one discussed depression with me, not her doctor, not her neurologist. But I knew how bad it was. The depression had to be treated if my mother would ever get rehabilitated.

People who have a stroke need very much attention and love. They feel helpless and hopeless. Recently a neighbor of mine had a stroke and when I went to the hospital, she too was crying and so sad. She is a widow who prides herself on being independent at age 86. The problem with her situation is that she was depressed for at least a year prior to the stroke since her husband had died. When the stroke hit her it was double trouble.

Treatment for depression can shorten the rehab process, lead to quicker recovery, and save health care costs. It makes so much sense that it’s hard to believe that doctors don’t seem interested in explaining this to family members right up front. Depression is something that stroke victims deal with a large majority of the time. Even though stroke is a disease of the brain, it can affect the entire body. Some of the disabilities that can result from a stroke include paralysis, thinking problems, speech problems, emotional difficulties, fatigue, and daily living problems. Many people require psychological help after a stroke. Depression, anxiety, frustration and anger are common in stroke victims. It depends on the person and what his or her life has been like so far. If you know someone who has had a stroke, you know recovery is a slow and long lasting process.

If you or your loved one has a stroke, be prepared for damage to that person’s self image and self esteem. It is very common for stroke victims to feel they have no future. Make sure that anti depressants are part of the program for anyone you care about who has a stroke. Insist that the doctor find the right combination of meds. Maybe it will take some time but you and your loved ones are worth it. Depression can be treated in addition to whatever other illnesses a person might have, including stroke. If you think you may be depressed or know someone who is, don’t lose hope. Seek help

Depression and Parkinson’s Disease

It is very sad to know that at least half the people with this disease experience depression. First they are the victim of one horrible disease, and then they suffer from depression. The person who has it, their families, friends, and doctors so often misinterpret the warning signs of depression and just think it is part of the other disease. Men in particular do not want to say that they are depressed as a result of this illness.

Symptoms of these two illnesses tend to overlap each other. Not enough research has been done on relationship between these two illnesses. People with depression who have Parkinson’s disease have a different symptom group than those without Parkinson’s. The Parkinson’s profile includes higher rates of anxiety and sadness without guilt or self-blame.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic and progressive disorder of the brain. It affects the motor system, but also thinking and emotion. It results from the loss of brain cells that control movement. The four primary symptoms of Parkinson’s are: trembling in hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face; stiffness of arms and legs, slowness of movement, and poor balance and coordination. Plus it causes difficulty walking and talking.

Anything which can help these victims and lift their sprits is needed ASAP. Antidepressants can be extremely helpful for anyone dealing with Parkinson’s. Treating depression can help anyone feel better about and cope better with their illness. Doctors of Parkinson’s patients need to devote the time and energy to finding the right prescription and right dosage. Be sure you insist that the doctor is “on it” and the help is given. As usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t hesitate to demand the care you need.

Depression can and should be treated when it co-occurs with other illnesses. Untreated depression can delay recovery from it or worsen the outcome. If you or someone you love has Parkinson’s disease, don’t give up and don’t lose hope. Depression is a treatable disorder of the brain. Depression can be treated in addition to Parkinson’s. Get the help you need, even if you have to demand it.

You may have recently heard the words from your doctor, “Congratulations, you are pregnant!”. Or perhaps you have seen positive results from your pregnancy test this morning. You are now ready to embark on your first trimester of pregnancy no matter how the results came to light. Since you will be seeing a host of changes in your body over the next few months you will probably have many questions and even more concerns.

What Can You Expect During First Trimester Pregnancy?

The advantage is the fact that there are many resources available to help educate yourself about what is coming. Because of the risk of complications and the uncomfortable symptoms you may experience the first trimester of a pregnancy can be the most difficult. However, you can take heart since the first trimester pregnancy only lasts about twelve weeks and the second trimester often has less symptoms. During these first weeks of adjusting to being pregnant it can be a good idea if possible to take it a little easier on yourself and your body.

Fatigue, nausea, light-headedness and breast tenderness are some of the symptoms that come with a first trimester pregnancy. If possible this is a good time to squeeze in a little extra sleep. Some extra rest right now will definitely benefit your body.

To help you throughout the pregnancy it is also a good time to start developing some good nutrition habits. You will probably start feeling better in a few short weeks even if nausea curbs your appetite right now and you can get through the rest of your nine months with a good diet.

You may only see your doctor every four weeks during the first trimester of your pregnancy.Using an Early Pregnancy Test You doctor will make sure the early development of your baby goes smoothly by screening you for potential risks and complications. You will probably be scheduled for many other routine tests to ensure that both you and your baby progress normally after the first trimester pregnancy. It will usually be early enough if problems are detected to alleviate the risk to mother and child.

There are things you can begin to do during the first trimester of your pregnancy to prepare for the birth of your baby even if nine months seems like a long time. You can begin by reading any of the many pregnancy books to inform yourself of what is coming. You can start window shopping for maternity clothes, plan a budget for a larger family and work on travel plans around your pregnancy.

This is the time to enjoy your life most of all. While symptoms and anxiety may fill the first trimester it is also a great time for anticipation and excitement Pregnancy Diary.

Gibran Selman is an expert on the Your Pregnancy Week by Week
