panic attacks after pregnancy?
Is anyone suffering from panic attacks after having a baby? If so did you take anything like zoloft or lexapro? I’m scared to take those but it’s been months that I’ve been suffering from these and it is affecting my whole life and my babies. We don’t ever leave the house because I’m scared I will have one while driving or at a store. Does anybody have any advice?? I’m thinking about taking zoloft. That is what the doctor has been trying to get me take for months now.

Hey, I’m sorry to hear you’re having such a rough time. I used to suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks so I know how horrible that can be and can’t even imagine how much worse it would be with a baby around.
Although some women do have great success with medications such as Zoloft there are some other things that I would recommend trying first simply because the side effects can be even more brutal than the attacks you’re trying to stop.
Counseling worked really well for me, but if you can’t afford that (I was lucky enough to get it free at my school), try figuring out what triggers the attacks and why. Sometimes even just knowing what it is that starts them can help you overcome it. Meditation and other relaxation exercises can be really great too, especially yoga.
Either way, if you and your doctor think it’s a good idea, try the Zoloft. But if you start experiencing new or more severe symptoms after you start the pills DO NOT up the dosage, stop taking them. You can always try another drug if necessary.
Cheers and good luck!
