I have been prescribed xanax for 7 years for severe anxiety disorder. I want to know if it will hurt my baby?

I am wondering will my use of the medication during my pregnancy hurt my unborn child?

Consult YOUR doctor. As a nurse I would not recommend this drug during pregnancy. This is pregnancy risk category D. This means that this drug should be avoided when possible during pregnancy. It has been tested in humans and shown to increase the chance of birth defects and should be only used when the benefits outweigh the risks. Again, I say talk to your doctor. I wish you luck
