How long after pregnancy does it take for your hormones to go back to normal?
My son will be 6 months tomorrow and I still feel like I have post-partum depression and panic attacks PLUS freakin mood swings. I had to get on an anti depressant and lamictal for mood swings and I swear I was never like this before I got pregnant. I had panic and anxiety but never this bad. Is it related to my hormones and how long until im “normal” again? I want to have 1 more baby in the future so I don’t want to take these meds forever.

It takes one year for your body to physically recover from carrying and birthing a child, but the length of time to recover emotionally and mentally is different for everyone.
It’s good that you’re already on medication, your son is still very young, so be patient and give yourself time. It’s totally normal to still be experiencing postpartum depression/anxiety/blues.
If you’re not, you should see a psychiatrist, too. And make sure you make time for yourself! I know it’s hard, I remember when my son was that young, I hated to be away from him for any length of time, but it will be better for you (both in the short and long term) and you’ll find yourself feeling better. And the happier you are, the better mom you will be for your son.
I had my second child 9 months ago and it wasnt till she was about 7 months that i started feeling like my old self again…actually better, nothing seems to bother me at all.
