Pregnancy for women is nature’s boon to them. It is a specialty which their counterpart (male) can not share. Pregnancy is one of the most joyous moments of any woman’s life! But, when panic attacks occur during pregnancy it becomes not just a bad experience but also a very dangerous experience for both mother and baby! Within society, panic attacks are nothing unusual, in fact they can be very common and are suffered by many people nowadays, some more severe than others. Now during pregnancy this common condition/situation can be extremely dangerous for both mother and baby and is a completely different ball game.

Panic attacks during pregnancy can be a common occurrence, even though the sufferer has never had general anxiety disorder or panic attacks before. They can happen because of the many changes that happen during pregnancy to a mother’s body, and her natural anxieties over her pregnancy.
Let’s first look at what causes panic attacks in general. The underlying cause is a level of continuous anxiety that is higher than one would normally experience. It is so high, that any additional stressful situation, or event, can push it even higher and trigger a panic attack.

I am wondering if the rapid heart rate that can accompany a panic attack is harmful to the baby during pregnancy?

To put a long story short… I’m 20 weeks pregnant, keep having panic attacks and just want relief!
I’d like to know how to prevent them, but the problem with that is that I’m not sure what triggers them! They pretty much come out of no where. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else that has random panic attacks, is this common?
I’ve had anxiety/panic disorder for about five years, so it’s nothing new.
